Welcome to Still Operating

Life can change in an instant. Learning how to live it again takes time.

After a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or other brain injury, coming home can feel very different from the life you left behind.

Things that once seemed automatic—getting dressed, preparing a meal, moving safely around your home, keeping track of appointments, or simply figuring out what comes next—may suddenly require planning, adaptation, assistance, or a completely different approach.

That can be frustrating. It can be overwhelming. And sometimes, it can feel like the person you were before your injury has been left behind.

Still Operating was created for that part of the journey.

We’re here to share practical information, ideas, and resources for people navigating life after brain injury—and for the family members and caregivers navigating it alongside them. We’ll talk about the everyday challenges that don’t always get enough attention. Home safety. Mobility. Caregiving. Finances. Adapting everyday activities. Finding ways to regain a sense of independence and control.

We’re here to help make the road a little easier to navigate.

Some days will be about progress. Other days may simply be about getting through the day.

Both Count.

This blog is where we’ll share what we learn along the way.

You may not be where you want to be yet, but you can keep moving forward.

Damaged, but not broken—you’re still operating.
